Kutch
Kutch is a district of Gujarat state in western India. It is only in Kutch that bright colours of richly embroidered garments find the company of ample silver jewellery, and together they tease the harsh desert sun. From anklets to earrings, armbands to chokers, if not cloth, it is metal that adorns. The aim was to design a piece of jewellery that has the essence of silver jewellery from kutch with ease to be worn. As tradition jewellery of kutch is very difficult to be worn and uncomfortable for the newer generation women from the tribes of kutch. Also, the artisans have been producing the same design since ages and this project would give them a new opportunity to expand their market.

The salted mists bow down and settle as silver dew on the tattered tent in open desert pitched beside the camels and as the tired tribeswomen with a veil on her head, knead the dough for bread, stoops over mud stove and her heavily embroidered blouse drapes her skinny shoulder with an open back which does not try to hide the lines of ageing before time.
